My bedroom door opens, big eyes starring at me.
Hands touching my face, which is followed by a sweet embrace.
So perfect, I can't believe you are mine, to hold, to love, to let go.
...How much you already know, so many questions you still have.
Answering them all remains: I ask you, how was your day?
Some lessons on math, spelling and I know you just love to play.
We sit, sing songs, listen to music, read, speak our minds and eat.
You will always be my baby, no matter how fast you grow.
We take a walk and almost see eye to eye and this is how I know.
Yesterday you where laying in my arms, I held you to my chest.
Hands running trough your curly hair, kisses on your cheeks.
Whispering a lullaby, waiting for you to sleep
and I know at one point I'll have to let you go.
But not now, not today, not in this moment,
In this moment it all stays the same...
You will always be my baby.....albeit just by name.
